UK consumers are more likely to purchase from a company that offers apprenticeships than those that don’t, according to a survey by the National Apprenticeships Service.
The research found that over 80% of respondents would be more likely to use a business or if it offered such training to young people.
Simon Waugh, Chief Executive of the National Apprenticeship Service believes that offering apprenticeships will make businesses more attractive in these tough times.
‘These results prove that there are definite business advantages for companies in England that take on apprentices as part of their workforce,’ he said. ‘In the current economic climate, businesses want to stand out from the crowd and offering apprenticeships is one way of doing this.’
As well as highlighting the potential business benefits of employing an apprentice, the research also shows consumers’ resounding support for young job seekers in today’s economic climate. Over 90% of people believe it is important for companies to take on apprentices during the recession.
